Finishing Well
No matter how your story started—or what challenges you're facing now—God is inviting you to finish well by walking with Him in the process. It begins with a soft heart, grows through hope, and is sustained by resting in His presence.
Finish Well: God's Invitation to the Process
This Memorial Day weekend, Pastor Vincent Carpenter from Antioch Waco, shared a powerful word for Antioch Austin—one that felt perfectly timed for a season of transition and endings. Whether it's graduation, a move to a new building, or the start of summer, God is calling us to finish well.
God Wants You to Finish Well—Even If Things Didn’t Start Well
Life doesn’t always begin the way we hoped. And even when it does, unexpected challenges and pain can knock us off course. But Vincent reminded us that no matter what’s happened before, God has a way to help us finish well.
Drawing from a classroom memory—where math teachers insisted we “show our work”—Vincent paralleled that with how God often leads us. The answers to our problems may be in “the back of the book” (the Bible), but God is less concerned with us getting the quick fix and more interested in walking with us through the process.
God doesn’t just want to give you the answer. He wants to meet you on the way there.
Step One: It Starts With the Heart
Our hearts are at risk of growing cold in a broken world. But God’s process begins with a tender heart. We can’t finish well until we invite God to search our hearts, soften them, and remove the lies we’ve believed—especially about His character.
Do you believe God is harsh? Or do you know Him as a loving Father who is for you?
Step Two: It Grows Through Hope
With hearts surrendered, God infuses hope. Not wishful thinking—but the confident expectation of good. Romans 15:13 reminds us that hope grows as we trust in Him. And that kind of hope comes from being in the Word—not to master a checklist, but to encounter the living God.
“He doesn’t just give you Scripture to memorize—He gives you Scripture to meet Him.”
Step Three: It’s Sustained by Rest
Hebrews 4, encourages us not to strive to make life work on our own but to enter the Sabbath rest God offers. That rest isn’t passivity—it’s trust. When we stop trying to figure everything out and instead walk with Him in surrender, God brings clarity, breakthrough, and provision in ways we couldn’t orchestrate ourselves.
God is Not Done with Your Story
Whether your heart needs softening, your hope needs renewing, or your soul needs rest—God is inviting you into the process. He’s not just after the result. He’s after you.
Whatever you’re facing, He’s saying: “Let’s finish this together.”
